WHICH IS THE BEST VACUUM TO BUY?
This will depend on what you intend to do with it. If it is for home use commercial vacuums or "hoovers" can seem a little heavy as they are designed for professional use where they may be used intensively. They will however perform better and last longer than a shop bought machine so they pay for themselves in the long run.
If it for commercial use the choice usually is decided by the budget available.
Tub or canister vacuums are the cheapest option and the most widely used. They are good for confined spaces, under desks etc. The machines are designed to be used with filter bags for best perfomance and to prolong the life of the machine. Many contract cleaners do use them bagless, this is false economy in the long term and messy when it comes to empty them.
Commercial upright vacuums give the best clean and are also much quicker on larger areas. Don't be put off by the lower vacuum power as it is the separate brush motor that does all of the work.
Back Pack or Ruck Sac vacuums are best when space is confined, i.e coaches or trains etc. They are now becoming more widely used in confined space office cleaning as well.
WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FLOOR POLISHER AND FLOOR SCRUBBER?
The machines both look the same.
A scrubbing machine has a slower speed motor, usually about 150-200 rpm, for a better cleaning action and to reduce the splashing of cleaning solutions on the skirting boards. They can be fitted with an optional solution tank or the cleaning fluid can be mopped on by hand. The machine can be fitted with a heavy duty scrubbing brush or you can have a drive board which allows you to fit different grades of nylon cleaning pads. A scrubbing machine can be used to polish floors simply by changing the grade of pad. It will take much longer to get the shine that a polishing machine will give though.
Floor polishing machines can operate at speeds of up to 10-20 times faster than a scrubbing machine. Floor polishers need a balance of weight and speed to give a good shine..
High speed polishers start at 300 rpm and go right up to 3000 rpm Ultra High Speed machines. The most common speed for a floor polisher is 400rpm which gives a good shine very quickly.
